FAQs

  • What is Analog Yoga?

Our classes include a skillful combination of accessible yoga postures, breathwork, meditation, and music. Most of our teachers have over a decade of experience, and offer full-spectrum, demanding classes without resembling “power” or “hot” styles of yoga. Modifications for every level are always offered. Prepare to stretch and strengthen your body, calm the mind and connect with a deeper part of yourself.

  • What should I bring?

You and your water bottle! We have mats and props at the studio available free of charge. Filtered water is available to fill your water bottle, along with a handicap-accessible bathroom with ample room to change. Note: we do not have showers.

  • What is the best way to sign up?

Please sign up ahead of time if possible so that when you arrive at the studio, you can completely disconnect and create a true “analog” experience. We, of course, are happy to sign you up in the studio if necessary.

  • What is Katonah Yoga?

Katonah Yoga synthesizes Taoist Theory, Hatha Yoga, sacred geometry, breath work and meditation. Katonah guides students through archetypal poses to organize and orient the body. Think of a basic low lunge, oriented on a compass (North, South, East, West).

The language of Katonah is metaphor and analogy. We identify the body as the home. We make a mess: enjoy life, imbibe, have a couple of late nights with friends, and drink the elixir of the universe! Then, we clean it up: do our practice, eat well, get rest. We don’t treat our house like a museum, where everything needs to be so preciously cared for…but we also don’t treat it like a frat house!

At Katonah Yoga we believe the practices of yoga transcend culture. We encourage self-discipline, self-responsibility, and self-actualization. The ultimate goals are empowerment, gratitude, and graceful use of effort.

  • Where do I park?

There is ample, free, two hour street parking surrounding the studio. We also have two spots adjacent to the studio, one marked “400 Ashland Parking” as well as the spot directly to the right (east). We also encourage walks with friends and riding your bike!

  • What if I am REALLY bad at yoga?

We love this question because there is no bad! Yoga is simply a tool, among many others, to help create a joyful and fulfilling life. The combination of breathing and stretching calms your nervous system and allows your body to repair and heal. With the addition of being in community and listening to music, yoga class, even if you only participate in a couple of mindful stretches, has the potential to change your life!
